When your wedding cake has been designed especially for you with luxe handmade and gilded details like this boho inspired wedding cake, not just any cake topper will do. Adding gold leafing paint to this Best Day Ever cake topper compliments the gold and white details on the cake as well as the sweet table decor. If you are looking for a way to add your own personal touch to your wedding day then this simple DIY project is just for you. Here’s how you can add gold details to any cake topper.
The Step By Step
Step 1. Shake the gold leafing pen well with the cap on. Press the point of the pen up and down on a scrap piece of paper to start the paint flow.
Step 2. Paint the areas on the front of the cake topper that you want to make gold. It will take two coats of paint so take your time. Wait for the first coat of paint to dry before you add the second coat or move onto the next steps.
Steps 3 and 4. Once the second coat of paint is dry on the front it’s time to repeat the process on the sides and back.
Step 5. Some areas on the sides are too small to get into using the paint pen. To get around that press down on the pen nib to release a puddle of paint into a dish and use a small brush to add paint into the areas that need it.
Finally, place your beautiful cake topper proudly on top of your wedding cake. Your guests most likely won’t realize that this was a DIY project so you may have to let them know.
